How to play

Moonshot is a free daily word game. Name the answers everyone says, then the ones almost nobody says. Every point pushes your rocket farther from Earth. Two new missions unlock every day at midnight.

01Common vs Blue Moon

Two categories, twelve answers, about three minutes.

Round 1 · most common (15 seconds each). Give 3 answers per category that most people would say. The #1 answer is worth 100 points, and less popular answers are worth less. Each answer charges your launch boost.
Round 2 · rarest (30 seconds each). Give 3 real answers per category that almost nobody says. Each one scores by how rare it is:

Common5 pts · what most people say first

Uncommon20 pts · known, not top of mind

Rare40 pts · you have to stop and think

Legendary60 pts · most people never say it

Mythic80 pts · almost nobody says it

Blue Moon100 pts · five hand-picked deep cuts

02The Ladder

One category, four spins, about two minutes. Each spin lands on a rarity tier, and you name an answer that is exactly that rare.

Exactly on the rung: 100. One rung off: 40. Two rungs off: 15.
30 seconds per answer. Your rungs are random, so friends get different ones.

03Bonuses

Speed: faster answers keep more of their points.
Combo ×1.5: a top-three answer, a Ladder bullseye, or a Mythic or Blue Moon find makes your next answer worth 1.5 times as much.
Perfect run: opens a portal to the Blue Moon and unlocks the Blue Moon sky.

04Good to know

Wrong guesses cost nothing. Answers the game doesn’t know are logged so we can add them.
Small typos are caught and the game asks what you meant.
You can’t use the same answer twice in a category.
Closing or refreshing the page mid-mission picks up where you left off.

05Your flight and streak

Your score is how far your rocket flies: past the Moon, Mars and the gas giants, out to the edge of the solar system. Fly at least one mission every day to keep your streak. Every 5 days in a row upgrades your rocket, from the Mk I Sparrow to the Mk VI Blue Moon.

06Flight Pass

The daily missions are free. The optional $5 Flight Pass is a one-time payment that adds unlimited flights, crews of up to 5 friends, and 1v1 duels. Half of every pass goes to She Code Africa.
